Needham Market have recorded an outstanding 6-3 victory in the capital against Haringey Borough.
In a scintillating first half Needham raced into a four goal lead thanks Rebecca Stephenson, Chloe Brame, Keira Topple and Laura Bloomfield.
A crazy second half started with a Shawna Harvey scoring an 8-minute hat trick at the start of the half for the home sidebefore Lucy Loomes and Cate Jackson made sure of the points late on.
It was a dominant start from the away side, and they scoredearly on as Stephenson won a free kick on the left and took it herself, beating the keeper for power, it squirmed through her gloves into the far corner.
She could have had more with another two free kicks, but the game remained on a knife edge, until it was split open by a howitzer of a strike from Brame into the bottom corner from 30 yards for her first for the club – what a way to open your account!!
From there Needham went on to dominate further although the home side did offer a threat on the counter with Danni Clarke making a big strong save at her near post. And that dominance was cemented with two further goals.
Cate Jackson played a lovely cross field ball to Millie Baggott, whose touch was out of this world, and she set up Topple to nudge home.
Not done there, a fourth was added just before the break as Bloomfield headed in a corner from close range to complete the dream half.
It was a whirlwind start to the second half as Haringey came out strong and it worked wonders as Harvey scored right at the start of the half.
And moments later it two and three as Needham couldn’t take the directness of the home side and Harvey, who completed her hat trick in less than 10 second half minutes.
Haringey still held a threat and could have equalised in the 77th minute but in a tale of two chances it was Needham who went up the other end with Jackson playing Loomes in and her delicious chip nestled into the roof of the net.
And just to add gloss at the end Jackson emphatically hammered home from a Stephenson cross to make it a fantastic day in the capital and well deserved vital three points.
Meanwhile Needham Markets Development team recovered well from a losing position to fight back and win 4-2 away Capel Plough.
The home side had got themselves into a two-goal lead going into the break and it looked like it may be a tough day at the office for Needham.
But the second half it was all change with Poppy Nunn recovering the situation with a brace before another brace from Immy Porch gave Needham the lead and then space to take all three points and put them third in the table.
Two wins for both teams on a great day for the club.
