Emma Drake scored her first goal for Needham Market Women’s first team as they and the Development Team made it to the next stage of this season’s Suffolk FA Cup at Bloomfields.
The first team playing on the turf of Bloomfields main pitch scored 14 unanswered goals against Beccles with Drake adding to her first with another to make it a thoroughly memorable day for the young forward player.
With such a big game on the horizon, Needham were able to rest some players and field some fringe players to gain some valuable minutes with Lucy Loomes looking to stake a claim with a player of the match 5 goals from the bench.
As well as Drake celebrating her first goal in the senior side her fellow development and academy compatriot – Sophia Gillingham – made her first appearance after narrowly missing out in last week’s dramatic FA Cup comeback.
Hayley Kindred scored on her comeback from injury while first choice players Lina Nagib and Paige Wakefield warmed up for next week’s massive FA Cup tie with a hat-trick and brace respectively - attacking midfield Amber Cantwell also registering.
Meanwhile on the clubs 3G surface the development team were in simultaneous action as they won 13-1 against championship side Bacton United 89.
Winger Marseilles Will was voted player of the match as her brilliant overall performance was added too by a well-deserved brace.
Charlotte Sayer scored four while Ella Long scored a hat-trick with individual goals for Hannah Cobbold, Ella Stone, Keira Topple and Amelie Talbot.
It was a great day for the club as both teams progressed through to the third round of the competition that see Needham as the current defending champions.
