Needham Market have secured a huge victory in the battle for survival with a fantastic 4-2 win over Bowers and Pitsea.
It was a cagey first half, but Needham had the better chances and put themselves two up thanks Laura Bloomfield and Rebecca Stephenson.
Annie Posnett and Keira Topple added two extra at the start of the second period with Bowers hitting back straight away with an own goal from Bloomfield before a late strike from Abigail Woollvin.
The first 20 mins of the game was a tight affair with few chances to speak of but then the game came to light in a barnstorming 10 minutes from the hosts.
First Danni Clarke made a smart save to keep Needham level and from her clearance Cate Jackson raced up the other end and hit the bar with a dipping curler, which then saw Annie Posnett rebound narrowly over.
Posnett was then free five minutes later and her shot was tipped wide for a corner, which lead to the opener as the brilliant ball in from Jackson was parried by the keeper on the line and Bloomfield hammered home from close range.
From there the home side grew and continued to look menacing going forward and they doubled their lead thanks to Stephenson, who cut out a ball from the keeper, ran into the box before dummying the defender and unleashing from the tight angle.
Bowers started the second half with more tempo but found themselves three down as Needham scored an exquisite team goal that saw Stephenson and Jackson involved before Posnett finishing it off.
A fourth was added thanks to Topple as she was played in by Stephenson and saw her powerful shot saved before tucking in the rebound.
But Bowers were immediately on the scoreline
two minutes later as Needham struggled to clear from their own goal kick and the ball somehow made it past Clarke with the unfortunate last touch coming from Bloomfield.
Bowers hit the bar but never really troubled the Needham goal in the final half hour until a late strike in stoppage time from Woollvin as Niamh Thomas made a great tackle to stop the initial danger.
A massive win that keeps Needham very much in this survival battle at the bottom of the league.
