Molly Hall scored five goals but was astonishingly on the losing team in a crazy match that saw Haringey Borough run out eventual 8-7 winners at Bloomfields.
There were seven goals in an entertaining first half with Hall scoring a hattrick and Lina Nagib but the away side kept in it with a brace for Caitlin Star and Chloe Ions pouncing on a defensive mistake.
And this mad game continued to amaze as Hall ended up with five and Ellie Rossiter getting on the score sheet, but Starcompleted a hattrick and the away side scored another four to eventually win the game.
Haringey started the better, but few chances were created for either side until Hall tapped home her first to give Needham the lead.
It lasted 10 minutes and suddenly they were behind with two goals in two minutes thanks to a superb long-range strike fromStar and then Ions capitalising on a mistake.
But in this Topsy Turvey game Needham turned it around as first Nagib ran through and looked her old self with a composed finish before Hall tapped home an Ellie Rossiter cross to put the home side back in the lead.
Hall then completed her hattrick with a beautifully composed goal, first dummying her defender before lashing into the far corner but the action wasn’t over yet as Star put a powerful shot away from the edge of the box.
Straight from the kick off Haringey were level again as Kylie Manktelow shot from the edge of the box, which took a wicked deflection and looped over Daisie Gibbs in goal.
But Hall was there again to add her fourth and Needham’s fifth and when Rossiter rounded the keeper and made it 6-4 with the game closing it was looking like a good start to the new year.
Back came Haringey again as Rimmi Lowe tapped home after Needham failed to clear a corner, but again Hall was emphatic with her finishing to double the lead again.
The final 10 minutes and stoppage time though saw the game completely flip upside down as Star completed her hat trick after a deep free kick was parried out and then a late equaliser from the spot by Tori Campbell levelled the game up again.
And deep into stoppage time it was heartbreak for Needham as Star was allowed to cross and it cruelly bounced off the covering Eva Hubbard and into the corner for the bitterest of finishes as the Londoners returned to the capital with all three points.
