TEDDY JOINS THE MARKETMEN

The club is delighted to announce the signing of striker Teddy Collis from Brightlingsea Regent.

The striker, who has scored 15 goals this season and scored 31 times last season, has previously plied his trade for Maldon and Tiptree and FC Clacton.

Manager Tom Rothery said of his first signing, "Teddy is a really exciting player, he’s done brilliantly in the past 18 months or so at step 4 with a club I know well scoring a lot of goals and plenty of assists too. I really like his character he’s got a real confidence and swagger about him so it’ll be interesting to see what he does with us but I’m expecting big things."

Teddy said, "first of all, glad to be here. My football career started at frinton and walton when I was 5yrs old. I always played a year up alongside my brother Charlie which has alot of benefits playing against older boys through out my time at Frinton. I then went onto play for Holland FC youth and then Elmden Rovers. Whilst inbetween having trials at Ipswich Town and Norwich City which didnt work out. At 16yrs old I went over to FC Clacton in step 5 under manager Mark Nicholls who really helped me as a young player. I Spent 3 and half seasons at Clacton before joining Brightlingsea Regent last season And went onto finish on 31 goals that season which is a really big achievement for me, which earnt me getting a 8 weeks trial at Colchester United last summer. I was then there for about 3-4 months on fulltime programme playing with the 21's and also at Maldon & Tiptree. But in the end things just didnt work out with me and the clubs so we parted ways. I then resigned for Brightlingsea this season and found form once again thanks to a brilliant coach Ryan Salter. scoring 12 in 20 games and pushing them up in the league. And now at 20yrs old I'm officially here at Needham. My manager Ryan at Brightlingsea dropped me a message saying "Needham has put a 7 dayer in for you" which i was instantly interested. I obviously accepted it and a few days later i began speaking to Tom at Needham. It took a few days to come to a decision but what made it much simpler was watching them play against Hereford and speaking to tom in person. The style of play and the aggression to be on the front foot suits me down to the ground. Also the set up here at Needham is unreal. I want to play at the highest level I can play at and I believe this was a great step for me to doing that. It was tough decision leaving behind all the good work i done at Brightlingsea, There a unbelievable club with great fans and players. And also big shoutout to Salts who has helped me the most throught my time in non-league. I wish them the best for the season. Now my focus is on Needham!"

"I would describe myself as very quick, flair player who also is clinical infront of goal. You can expect a lot from me sich as going at players 1 on 1. Creating a chance out of nothing and and of course scoring goals. I would like to say i have alot of good traits to my game, therefore very excited for the fans to see me play.

"As a team my aim is to help the club stay up this season and cement out status in this league for another year. On a more personal note, I want to hit the ground running scoring goals and make a name for myself at this level, its very simple for me."
