Needham Market Under-18s progress to the 3rd Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Cup after scoring 3 goals in the final 22 minutes to overturn a 2-1 deficit at home to Stanway Rovers.
Stanway though were awarded a penalty in the 12th minute, though it was parried away brilliantly by Roan Tucker down low to his right-hand side a minute later.
Stanway though took the lead in the 14th minute as a left wing corner was headed home at close range at the far post.
The young Marketmen had started brightly, and continued to despite falling behind, Oscar Wakeling found Evan Gledhill with a superb right wing cross but nobody was around to latch onto the striker's flick on around the six yard box as the visiting keeper dived across to gather on 18 minutes.
At the other end, superb goalkeeping from Tucker saw the Needham stopper superbly catch a left wing corner amongst a crowd of bodies at his far post five minutes later, while Gledhill drew a good save out of the Stanway 'keeper after 33 minutes.
Oscar Wakeling's great tackle found the striker in space from 30-yards out whose ferocious low shot towards the bottom far, left-hand, corner was smartly parried away by the goalkeeper, with the resulting left wing cross marginally deflected and cleared away from Gledhill in a dangerous area.
Flynn Bobby then fed Harlyn Palmer onto the left-hand edge of the box whose cross-shot was well held by the keeper, as it looked to creep under his crossbar on 36 minutes.
The young Reds, on the balance of play and chances, were deservedly back on level terms a minute later. Great pressure from Gledhill saw the strike win back possession in the visitors' box, finding Oscar Wakeling whose low fierce shot across goal was parried out by the keeper at his near post, falling to Harlyn Palmer at close range to find the bottom right-hand corner.
Flynn Bobby then saw a shot blocked on the edge of the box on 39 minutes, while Harlyn Palmer's left wing low cross just evaded Evan Gledhill in the six yard box.
Stanway however had the last notable chance of the first half, as Tucker was on hand to deny the visitors, as the shot-stopper dived down smartly to his left-hand side to parry the shot behind for a corner in the 41st minute.
After the restart, the young Marketmen enjoyed a lot of the possession and created a great chance in the 50th minute, Tucker was there first to clear a through-ball just inside his own half, with Charlie Smy's great tackle keeping possession before looking to thread Palmer driving into the box, albeit the onrushing keeper was first to it to gather. Moments left though, Flynn Bobby's left wing cross was smartly backheeled by Gledhill to a Red shirt outside the box who found James Coton in space to shoot, although his shot was deflected narrowly wide of the bottom corner by a defender.
While Stanway saw a shot from a tight angle go wide into the side netting on 55 minutes, Harlyn Palmer headed a right wing cross just over the bar from close range a minute later.
Stanway meanwhile saw a far post header from a long range free-kick go wide, again from a difficult angle, on 64 minutes, before Needham forced a good save out of the Rovers goalkeeper five minutes later.
Palmer threaded a great ball through to Bobby, driving down the left wing one on one with the 'keeper, whose low shot towards the far post was well blocked by the foot of the stopper, falling to Gledhill whose awkward shot on the rebound went over the crossbar.
Arguably against the run of play, Stanway retook the lead with a good finish, off the inside of the right-hand, far, post on 74 minutes - though the Marketmen were back on level terms four minutes later.
In the start of a fantastic turnaround, the ball fell to Flynn Bobby from distance on the left-hand side who smashed a great first time strike strike with the outside of his right foot that arrowed into the top far corner.
Colin Grogan's side took advantage of the momentum as they took the lead 3 minutes later, James Coton's left wing cross picked out substitute Filip Zadlo at the far post to head home from close range.
Stanway meanwhile fired over from the edge of the box after 84 minutes, while Bobby picked out Palmer, who in turn found fellow goalscorer Zadlo just outside the box, whose low shot was well held by the 'keeper low to his left-hand side five minutes later.
The visitors however were reduced to ten men in the 3rd minute of stoppage time, after a second yellow card, before Needham rounded off the scoring a minute later with a brilliant run and finish from Zadlo.
The substitute was released through on goal, driving through the opposition's half before smashing home past the advancing 'keeper into the bottom right-hand corner.
Needham expect to hear who they'll face in the next round on Friday afternoon, with the young Reds returning to league action next Thursday away to Cornard United (7:45pm).
